Mountain Goats Return
by John Walker on Feb.10, 2008, under The Rest
2007 was missing something incredibly important: a new Mountain Goats album.
2008 will not be so cruel. Here’s the video for the first single:
Also, Darnielle’s song for Super Tuesday here.

Such a good video… was a random find on you tube when I was looking for the one directed by the Brick director (Rian Johnson?!?). Hadn’t realised it was their new single though. Hurrah for the Mountain Goats!

Well I’ve ‘illegally downloaded this album from a Bittorrent site’ and, four songs in, it’s…..wonderful.
It would appear that this is their 11th album?!!!

Speaking of things that return – I am fairly new here, but I enjoy reading the old entries. There are two things I love, and would like to request:
1. What happened to Brian? Brian’s Guies rule!
2. Dexter! (Greatest Cat Ever!), please more stories!

You could also purchase it legitimately from 4AD for only £8 here:

And get it a week ahead of release.

Across 11 albums (plus lots of other bits and pieces) it’s not really possible to say which is his “best” single. I have a favourite song, which would be Your Belgian Things.

Oh, I’ve already paid for my Mountain Goats time at their show. I don’t owe any favors :)

Having never heard of them before seeing this post, I ended up buying both Tallahasee and The Sunset Tree after watching that video. Now I’ve bought the new one on release day. The internet is bad for my budget.

Your Belgian Things is my favourite too. That Walker. Sometimes he’s RIGHT.
