Fortunately, I'd taken the call on my slightly ropey cordless phone, and I could hear the battery was giving out. I just had time to say 'I never met him. I was a fan, we corresponded occasionally and he interviewed me once. And now my phone battery is about to conk out.'. Get a job? What? Like the one you've got that adds so much to the store of understanding and human kindness? I'd rather be a poor freelance than a well-off staffer with no ethics. Well done for your responses to this individual, who seems - unfortunately - all too well suited to work where they do. Odd lack of manners and fidelity to 'truth' as well, given the way the paper looks down on... well, pretty much everyone and everything, really. Will probably be a regular reader now, all the best.
