I sympathise totally having had a similar experience with an IBIS hotel in Portsmouth (only minus the air con as this didn`t exist). How they have the cheek to charge £70 for a room the size of a toilet cubicle with a bed made up of itchy blankets possibly made before I was even born, I`ll never know. Insult was added to injury when we were informed the sparse `continental breakfast` was not included in the room price and would indeed cost £6 each! Never again. Brilliant letter. A modified version of this complaint was sent to Accor who own Ibis. I took out some of the stuff about the staff not being able to speak English, the burn yourself down line at the top as it seemed a bit like a threat, and added in a paragraph on how I wished for their to be no action taken against staff, as, "I believe to work in such a place is probably more punishment than anything else imaginable, and while seemingly missing their brains, they were all polite and friendly throughout. I would, however, suggest that perhaps you might want to give them some level of training. Or more simply, burn your hotel down." As I don't want to get anyone fired. I sent a very different version to Virgin, far more serious and detailed, as I had such a horrendous day. I want to get some decent airmiles out of them : ) Yes. They really cannot do hotels, full stop. The occasional b&b in the cotswolds, perhaps (but I have stayed in good B&Bs all over the world - no need to be cocky).
